2021 Spring Reunion with Venerable Hong Bok

1Buddhism held its first international Lunar New Year gathering on the 10th day of the 1st lunar month. Participants at the online gathering were from various countries, viz. Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Australia and disciples from China led by Bao Sheng Temple.

In his address to us, Venerable shared the tips on cultivating blessings and auspiciousness. Quoting from the Maha Mangala Sutta, Venerable advised us to honour our parents, cherish our spouse and children, and engage in the right livelihood; practise respect, humility, contentment, gratitude and patience; and listen to and discuss Dharma regularly. By upholding these values, we will be auspicious because opportunities for conflict with others will have been minimised or even eliminated. In addition, any undesirable situation can be averted and even turned into an auspicious opportunity if only we care to reflect, adjust and adapt. Venerable also gave us a few tips on how to avoid ‘offending’ the Tai Sui deity (太岁) of the Ox-picious Year – the Buddhist way, of course!

The gathering ended on a high note amidst exchanges of good wishes among the participants.

Once again, we wish Venerable Hong Bok, good health, and may all aspirations be fulfilled!
To our Dharma brothers and sisters, may you all enjoy good health and a Dharma-blissful year!
May the Buddhasāsana be with us forever!
May 1Buddhism grow from strength to strength, taking the authentic Dharma far and wide!
