5th Full Moon

For the upcoming 5th New Moon & Full Moon Uposatha Day, besides transmitting 8 precepts , Ven. Hong Bok will continue his talk on upholding the Upasaka/Upasika 5 precepts.

Objectives:

To enable lay practitioners to experience the life of a Monastic for minimally 1 Day and Night during which, they intensify and deepen their practice of mindfulness of the Triple Gems, moral conduct (sila) and meditative concentration, and uphold the Arhant / Tathagata’s virtues for future Nibbanic bliss and Buddhahood.
The world and world-transcending merits and blessings generated from the practice will be dedicated for the following purposes:

 

  1. Relieve the suffering of the COVID-19 virus, those who are recovering from, and those who had succumbed to, infection;
  2. rapid recovery of the world from the pandemic;
  3. liberation of our deceased ancestors and loved ones;
  4. prolongation of the Buddha’s Sasana.

EVENTS :

A. Tutorial on 8 Precepts

Note:
In English and Chinese, specially conducted for NEW participants (who have *NEVER* attended 8 Precepts Transmission sessions organized by 1Buddhism) and for others who would like to have a revision on the subject.

Registration Criteria:
Open to All who are interested. COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE FOR all NEW participants.

B. Lecture on 5 Precepts

Registration Criteria:
STRICTLY for 5 preceptees only (i.e those who have taken refuge with the Triple Gem AND have already received transmission of five precepts before).

C. Transmission of 8 Precepts

Registration Criteria:
Open to any practitioner who is interested to experience 1 day 1 night life as a Monastic, during which to intensify and deepen the practice of mindfulness, and accumulate world and world-transcending merits and blessings.

Notes:

  1. Transmission ceremony, conducted in English and Chinese, is for both the Theravada and Mahayana lineages.
  2. Practitioners should be in their ceremonial outfits (Haiqing & Manyi robe), if possible. Those without the outfits should be in all WHITE.
